Attaching documents

You can add documents to the Doc Center by attaching them to transactions, customers, accounts, etc. You can also click the attach button to attach a documents to a transaction.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to attach documents to a Seller

  1. From the menu bar click on Sellers-Seller Center.
  2. Click once on the Seller name to bring up the Seller Information window.
  3. To attach a document click on the attach button.
  4. At the Attach From: click on Doc Center.
  5. Click on document name – click on Attach– click on Done
  6. The attach button (paperclip) changes to show a document is attached.

Almost every page in QuickBooks has an "Attach" or "Attach File" icon.

To manage the files from a central location, open the Document Center from the Company menu.

Here are some well-known issues with attaching documents in the Doc Center:

Attached Documents are missing after changing file name or location

 When using QuickBooks Attached Documents to attach documents, an Attach folder is created and stored in the same location as the QuickBooks company file. Renaming or moving the company file to a different location will break the connection between the Attached Documents and company file.

  • Problems scanning or attaching documents

Another common reported issue is when you are trying to scan or attach documents from your Doc Centre to your company file's transactions, customers, accounts, etc., and nothing seems to be happening.

  • Unable to email transactions or send forms

When using QuickBooks email as Send Forms preference, the option to select email transaction and attachments is greyed out.
